A preserved fox head – upright, looking straight ahead – rests on a round textile tableau. Floral embellishments encircle it like a glittering collar. The headband presents the piece like a staged appearance – somewhere between object and spectacle.
The collar lends the fox dignity – and at the same time reveals the gesture of ornamentation. Hunting relic, decorative object, quiet confrontation. This fox, too, comes from hunted stock – not farmed fur, but leftover material from the fur trade.
A performance of contrasts: reverence or appropriation?
